Drain Line Repair & Replacement

Drain lines carry wastewater from sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures to the building’s main sewer line. When a drain pipe becomes damaged, deteriorated, improperly pitched, or begins leaking, clearing the line may not solve the underlying problem.

Marc Francis Plumbing provides drain line repair and replacement in Johnson City, TN, and throughout the surrounding Tri-Cities area. Marc evaluates the condition and extent of the damaged piping to determine whether an isolated repair is sufficient or replacement of a larger section of the drain line is appropriate.

A drain that repeatedly causes problems may have more going on than a simple clog. Signs that the drain piping itself may need attention include:

  • Recurring Drain Problems: A drain that repeatedly backs up after being cleared may have an underlying pipe problem.
  • Leaking Drain Piping: Water appearing around accessible drain piping or below a plumbing fixture may indicate a damaged pipe or connection.
  • Corroded or Deteriorated Pipe: Older drain piping can deteriorate over time and eventually begin leaking or failing.
  • Cracked or Damaged Drain Lines: Physical damage, failed joints, or broken sections of pipe may require repair or replacement.
  • Improper Drainage or Pitch: Drain piping that was installed incorrectly may not carry wastewater away as it should.

A clogged drain does not automatically mean the drain pipe needs to be repaired. Many blockages can be cleared with normal drain cleaning. However, if problems keep returning because the pipe is damaged, deteriorated, improperly installed, or has another structural issue, repairing or replacing the affected drain line may be necessary.

Marc Francis Plumbing evaluates the cause of the problem before recommending pipe replacement.

If the drain line is simply blocked and the piping is otherwise in good condition, learn more about our drain cleaning services.

When damage is limited to one area, an isolated section of drain piping may be able to be repaired or replaced. If the piping is extensively deteriorated, improperly installed, or experiencing problems in multiple areas, replacing a larger section may be the better long-term solution.

Marc Francis Plumbing evaluates the condition and layout of the existing drain piping before determining how much actually needs to be replaced.

When the cause or location of a recurring drain problem is not obvious, a sewer camera inspection may help identify damaged piping, failed connections, standing water, or other conditions inside an accessible drain line.
